ATTENTION ALL SWIMMERS!

April 5, 2024

We are pleased to announce that on Monday, April 8th, the pool at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center will re-open for lap swimming and programming! We have been hard at work on a variety of updates and upgrades, including a total resurfacing of the pool itself, increased and enhanced lighting through LED fixtures, and a re-located pool office.

We know you are eager to get back in the water, and we look forward to seeing you there! Please visit Community Pass to take a look at our modified schedule for the upcoming season.

Here is some helpful information to update you on what you need to know before you arrive at the pool.

While the pool will open to the public on April 8th, we are still renovating our locker rooms, which includes total gut renovation of each locker room and the addition of a family changing room. However, you need not worry! The Recreation Department will provide portable restrooms and shower trailers right outside the pool area. These trailers will have heat, hot water showers, and flush toilets for pool users only. We anticipate that the locker room renovations will be completed by June.

During the remainder of the renovation, the entrance to the pool has been temporarily moved to the back of the pool opposite the parking area. The Department of Health requires us to reduce our daily capacity due to our use of temporary restrooms/showers. To stay in compliance, we will offer a modified pool schedule for the remainder of the locker room renovation. For more information please visit the Village's website.

We are particularly pleased to announce that lap swimming will resume at 6am on Monday, April 8. Youth swim lessons will also begin next week. Members who have signed up will receive a separate email with confirmation information. We still have some opening spots in our classes, so please take a moment to review Community Pass and register!

For patrons whose memberships expired during the renovation, you can contact the Recreation Department to sort out credits from now through April 15th by stopping by the pool, emailing recreation@villageofossining.org, or calling (914) 941-3189. Please keep in mind that only swim-related memberships will be credited, and your recreation membership must be updated.

Our special thanks to former Assemblywoman Sandy Galef for securing $500,000.00 in grant funding to get this project started after several years of planning. We are excited to unveil this first step in what will be a building-wide renovation over the coming years funded in large part by New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), driven by public input and designed for how Ossining lives, works and plays.
